Night Caps earned a thumbs-down in this category because 55% of its claims are rated as either extremely or moderately effective. Seventy-five (75)% of a product's claims must be rated as extremely or moderately effective to receive a thumbs-up in this area.
The product’s effectiveness rating is an overall picture of how well a product does or doesn't work. Individual studies research an ingredient's effects on certain claims. For example: does creatine monohydrate increase strength, or does beta alanine improve running performance?
The Supplement Database compiles the conclusions of these studies, and based on a product's ingredient makeup, calculates how well a product does on various claims. The claims below are organized by effectiveness (extremely, moderately, ineffective).
Night Caps is extremely effective at:
Night Caps is moderately effective at:
Night Caps earned a thumbs-down in this category because its research rating is 38. A product's research rating must be at least 60 to receive a thumbs-up in this area.
A research rating of 38 means there is an insufficient amount of research on the product's ingredients to ensure its effectiveness rating is valid.
The research rating is a measure of how much research has been conducted on a product's ingredient makeup. Manufacturers often rely on ingredients without adequate research backing. They may do this to compete with other products that are already using poorly researched ingredients. They may also only use a very small amount of cherry-picked research as a poor justification to use certain ingredients.
The amount of research contained in the database on a product's ingredients determines its research rating. Products with higher ratings are made up of thoroughly researched ingredients.
Night Caps earned a thumbs-up in this category because its discloses 100% of its ingredient amounts. A product must disclose all ingredient amounts to receive a thumbs-up in this area.
Nutrition label transparency refers to how many ingredients are listed with amounts on the product label. Many supplement manufacturers hide ingredient amounts under the guise of great-sounding proprietary blends such as "Maximum Muscular Size Enhancer" or "Anabolic Cell Strength Matrix."
When manufacturers use proprietary blends, they can hide ingredient amounts making it difficult for consumers to know whether a product is effective.

Although considered in the top 10 highly stressful careers, my endlessly rewarding career serving as a school psychologist in the inner city is highly and endlessly rewarding for me and I wouldn’t change it for the world. The powerfully emotional and constant high stress, and anxiety provoking of situations in helping so many needy school aged children & their families struggling with acute and ongoing serious emotional & behavioral issues, does cause me to suffer sleep disturbances. Over the last 20 years, I have tried several prescription sleep aids, but they make me feel groggy the next day & my doctor doesn’t recommend due to their propensity to be habit forming (i.e. antidepressants, benzodiazepines, doxepine, amitriptyline, Lunesta & zolpidem). I’ve also tried, with dissatisfactory results, many variations & manufacturers of OTC supplements (i.e. antihistamines, diphenhydramine, acetaminophen/Ibuprofen PM, melatonin, doxylamine, & valerian). Although quite disappointed, I’m stubborn and I kept the faith that there MUST BE a product out there that will work for me. So, I was searching the internet for the highest rated, affordable sleep aid that helps with both falling asleep quickly & staying asleep, without that next day muddled feeling. This is when I found Night Caps Sleep Aid by Powercap Labs. By actually taking the time to REALLY read the reviews & RESEARCH the countless products available, I found the answer. I’m surprised, relieved & very thankful that my determination finally paid off! I take the suggested 2 pill dose each night & I fall asleep within 30 minutes, usually quicker, & I stay sound asleep all night. Thank you for this product, and PLEASE DO NOT change anything about it. NIGHT CAPS SLEEP AID work perfect for me just the way they are.
