The product’s effectiveness rating is an overall picture of how well a product does or doesn't work. Individual studies research an ingredient's effects on certain claims. For example: does creatine monohydrate increase strength, or does beta alanine improve running performance?
The Supplement Database compiles the conclusions of these studies, and based on a product's ingredient makeup, calculates how well a product does on various claims. The claims below are organized by effectiveness (extremely, moderately, ineffective).

Research Rating
Clear Muscle earned a thumbs-up in this category because its research rating is 71. A product's research rating must be at least 60 to receive a thumbs-up in this area.
A research rating of 71 means there is a moderate amount of research on this product's ingredients to ensure the effectiveness rating is probably valid.
The research rating is a measure of how much research has been conducted on a product's ingredient makeup. Manufacturers often rely on ingredients without adequate research backing. They may do this to compete with other products that are already using poorly researched ingredients. They may also only use a very small amount of cherry-picked research as a poor justification to use certain ingredients.
The amount of research contained in the database on a product's ingredients determines its research rating. Products with higher ratings are made up of thoroughly researched ingredients.
Nutrition Label and Ingredient Transparency
Clear Muscle earned a thumbs-up in this category because its discloses 100% of its ingredient amounts. A product must disclose all ingredient amounts to receive a thumbs-up in this area.
Nutrition label transparency refers to how many ingredients are listed with amounts on the product label. Many supplement manufacturers hide ingredient amounts under the guise of great-sounding proprietary blends such as "Maximum Muscular Size Enhancer" or "Anabolic Cell Strength Matrix."
When manufacturers use proprietary blends, they can hide ingredient amounts making it difficult for consumers to know whether a product is effective.
Clear Muscle contains:
- total ingredients: 1
- ingredients with amounts listed: 1
- ingredients without amounts listed: 0
- percent of ingredient amounts disclosed: 100%

MuscleTech has always been on the pricey side, prob $50-60 retail/$40-45 online. And I've heard mixed reviews claiming it "did nothing" for some. But the truth is HMB has been proven time & time again to yield positive results- its basically a super Advanced form of the amino acid L-Leucine (the king of the BCAAs). Clear Muscle should be a staple in your supp program, esp If your workout sessions are hi-volume, hard-core & you train more than 3 times a week. What I think MuscleTech screwed up on is the dosing/timing recommendations. The label states to take 1 serv [2 softgels] morning, a 2nd serv mid-day, and the 3rd in evening [6 tot] every day, training days and off days. To me, this would be not only wasteful, but it doesn't even maximize HMB's true potential as a Protein Synthesis enhancer! The best time, BY-FAR, to consume HMB is immediately post workout. Period. In reality, it's not even necessary to take it any other time of the day! So instead, take all 3-6 softgels right after your last rep in the gym. The 2nd big mistake many make w this prod is that they don't give it a chance to work BECAUSE they don't consume 20-30 grams of quality protein along with it! So 4/5 stars from me... price per serving and lack of proper instruction only real cons. The product & ingredients are proven muscle builders. Drink w lot of water, and stack w/ Isolate protein, creatine and some fast carbs and you got yourself an awesome combo.
